Favim.com-clouds-finger-hands-heart-579636.jpgHello lovely readers and happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you have someone special to share your V-Day with. And if you don’t have someone, welcome to the single-squad. Today I’m going to show you two breakfast for the Valentine’s and the Anti-Valentine’s. I hope you like it and please keep on reading.

Valentine’s Day:

Make your standard pancake batter or follow this recipe:

All you need to have:

  • 3 large free-range eggs
  • 115 g plain flour
  • 1 heaped teaspoon baking powder
  • 140 ml milk
  • 1 pinch salt

All you need to do:

  • First separate the eggs, putting the whites into one bowl and the yolks into another. Add the flour, baking powder and milk to the yolks and mix to a smooth thick batter. Whisk the whites with the salt until they form stiff peaks. Fold into the batter – it is now ready to use.
  • Heat a good non-stick pan on a medium heat. Pour some of your batter into the pan in a heart shape and fry for a couple of minutes until it starts to look golden and firm. At this point sprinkle your chosen flavouring (see below) on to the uncooked side before loosening with a spatula and flipping the pancake over. Continue frying until both sides are golden.
  • You can make these pancakes large or small, to your liking. You can serve them simply doused in maple syrup and even with some butter or crème fraîche. Or if you choose to sprinkle with a flavouring, try one of these…

    blueberries
    banana
    stewed apple
    grated chocolate

Serve some heart shaped strawberries:
  • Wash your strawberries and remove the green parts.
  • Cut them in half
  • Take a toothpick and stick both sides together like on the picture.
  • Now you got yourself some heart shaped strawberries.

Anti-Valentine’s Day:

Make your standard waffle batter or follow the next recipe:

All you need to have:

  • 150g self-raising flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 240ml semi-skimmed milk
  • Zest of 1 orange (optional)
  • Vanilla extract (optional)

All you need to do:

  • Mix all the dry ingredients together in a large bowl. Gradually beat in the egg, then add the milk slowly, whisking well to get as smooth a batter as possible.
  • If you’re making sweet waffles, grate in the zest of an orange and add a few drops of vanilla extract.
  • Get your waffle machine ready. Once it’s hot, ladle in the batter mixture in a heart shape  and seal, following the machine instructions until your waffles are cooked.
  • Melt your chocolate in microwave on high heat on full power for 30 seconds, stir well. Heat for another 20 seconds and stir again. The mixture should be smooth with all the chocolate melted. If you still have unmelted chocolate give it 10 seconds more in the microwave.
  • Once your chocolate is melted, draw a broken line in the middle of your waffles to symbolize a broken heart.

Happy Valentine’s day and keep some love for yourself! <3

Happy Anti-Valentine’s Day and don’t break to many heart! <3
